The lists of boys in the school 1803-1899 collected in the earliest volumes of the Ampleforth Journal. With some patience they can be used as a fairly reliable source: but some of the earlier lists were written from memory in the 1850's.

The DIARY printed from 1890 - LINK
About 1890 the Diary started to appear in print: in five years it developed into the Ampleforth Journal (1895),
mainly under the influence of Bishop Hedley. Indexed
